GALENA (LEAD) or PB
Galena is the natural mineral form of lead sulfide. It is the most important lead ore mineral. Lead is extremely rare as a mineral, though the element itself somewhat common. The element lead does not lend itself well to form crystals of its own and thus the mineral lead is only rarely seen. It has been found with gold in placer deposits and in unusual metamorphosed limestones and marbles. It has an almost white color and is very soft, capable of being scratched by a fingernail. With its metallic luster and high density the mineral lead can not be easily confused for any other mineral.

Zinc (ZN)
Zinc is a rare mineral. Zinc has been found in several locations but is never found in any abundance.
As an important industrial metal, zinc has been used for eons, even if its users did not know what it was.
There are a few naturally occurring zinc alloys that are classified in the Elements Class with native zinc. Naturally occurring brass, Cu3Zn2, is one of them. It is being given consideration as a mineral, but is not yet officially recognized.

Copper (Cu)
Copper has been mined for centuries and now is all but depleted as an economically viable ore. Other copper minerals are far more economical to mine and purify into metallic copper that is used for wiring, electrical components, pennies and other coins, tubing and many other applications. Copper is still found in limited quantities in once-active mining regions. These finds are now valuable as minerological specimens and ornamental pieces. Fine specimens only rarely demonstrate crystal faces and these are prized above otherwise similar specimens.

Zircon (Zr)
Zircons reputation has suffered of late due to the introduction of a diamond simulant. However with that in mind, zircon has been used as a diamond simulant both for innocent and nefarious reasons. Zircon resembles diamond in luster and fire and colorless zircons have been mistaken for diamonds by experienced jewelers. Zircon can make a very attractive and affordable gemstone. It is found in browns and greens but can be heat treated to beautiful blue and golden colors. Colorless material is produced in this way as well. As a mineral specimen, zircon is uncommon in most rock shops because attractive specimens are rare. However, fine specimens of well shaped zircons are available and are in demand.

Mercury (Hg)
Mercury is unique, as it is the only metal that is liquid at room temperature, having a melting point of -40 C, and a boiling point of 357 C. This silvery liquid metal is very dense, yet has a high surface tension that causes is to form tiny little perfect spheres in the pores of the rocks it is found in. When frozen, mercury forms crystals in the rhombohedral system at low pressure, and in the tetragonal system at high pressure.

Coal
Coal is a combustible black or brownish-black sedimentary rock composed mostly of carbon and hydrocarbons. Coal is a nonrenewable energy source because it takes millions of years to create. The energy in coal comes from the energy stored by plants that lived hundreds of millions of years ago, when the earth was partly covered with swampy forests. For millions of years, a layer of dead plants at the bottom of the swamps was covered by layers of water and dirt, trapping the energy of the dead plants. The heat and pressure from the top layers helped the plant remains turn into coal.

Iron Ore
It is mostly found in the form of meteorites that have impacted the Earth's surface. A few rare terrestrial gabbros and sulfide deposits do contain elemental iron-nickel deposit. The two elements are combined in varying percentages from less than 6% nickel to as much as 75% nickel, although iron is by far more common than nickel.
